Bountiful Parade

7.24.2015

Bountiful always does a parade on the 23rd of july, and we went every year growing up. it was nice because we lived on the corner- we never had to deal with traffic (or too much walking). i took olive by myself last year, pregnant and sick as a dog.  but i knew she would enjoy it. i also knew she probably would enjoy it even more this year- but the idea of chasing around a 2 year old and taking care of scotti by myself did not sound pleasant. so i made dave come. :) olive was in heaven as i anticipated. she loved all the candy, horses, cars, and music. and we didn't have to do too much chasing.

after the parade, we hung out at Eggett's house and watched Bountiful's fireworks from the front lawn. olive always has so much fun with all her cousins- i could barely keep track of her! it makes my heart so happy to see her happy. i love watching the fireworks from my in laws because we can just hang out afterwards and skip all the traffic! another successful 23rd of july ;)

Scotti's First Accident

7.22.2015
I was hoping this day would never come, or at least wait a few years. but it happened. Monday, around 5:30 i was finishing up the last few touches on a few bows I was making for my niece. i was in a hurry and scotti was fussy. so i decided to just hold her while i glued the hair clip to the bow with a hot glue gun. i luckily accomplished one without any injuries so i kept going.... which i shouldn't have.  i had just put a good amount of fresh hot glue on the clip when scotti reached for it and burned her finger. of course i dropped everything, rubbed the hot glue off her little perfect fingers and rinsed them under cold water. scotti was crying, i was crying and olive- confused and scared was crying. you know, as mom's we all make mistakes every single day. some little and some big. and we beat ourselves up for it. i feel absolutely terrible. but i also feel like an idiot. so don't judge me!!! it was common sense, i shouldn't have been holding scotti in the first place. but i was and i learned my lesson. i still cry and apologize to her every single day since then.

(monday night)

unfortunately we hadn't paid our phone bill just yet, so my phone was shut off and dave was working. i tried to Facetime him, with no answer i texted him about ten times. "babe. call me back. please. i did something really stupid. please call me back". as i was frantically running around the house trying to figure out what to do, olive right at my feet said, "mom! what happened?!" as she is hysterically crying. :( Dave finally called back and was already on his way home.  luckily, my sister in law is a nurse and worked at primary children's so she walked us through what to do.

it is looking a little bit better today (two days later), julie actually came by and helped me clean, scrub and re-bandage it today.  our little scotti girl is a trooper!!  don't be dumb like me, don't hold your infant (or toddler) while using a hot glue gun!! :)

(two days later)

What's On The Grill?

7.18.2015

(as close to a smile as i could get!!)

(dave was walking around the backyard on the phone, so olive had to run into the house to grab her phone. unfortunately I didn't get a good picture of her following daddy around on her pink phone).

we've really been into grilling this summer- steak, hot dogs and burgers. it's a fun little way to get outside as a family!! plus it's an easy dinner! we all love it! and clearly, i forgot about the hot dogs.

SCOTTI IN BLACK & WHITE

7.17.2015

babies are so much easier to photograph. maybe one day i'll get a few good photo's of olive holding still. this is probably the last time Scotti will wear this darling jumper, so i had to snap a few pictures. i think she is beautiful!!!

Scotti Lou- 5 Month Update

7.14.2015

We say this every month, but I can't believe another month has gone by.  We are loving every minute of having Scotti in our family.  She brings us so much joy, I really can't imagine life without her. I definitely love the newborn stage, there is just something about cuddling a baby fresh from heaven- but Scotti is starting to enter the fun stages.  Just a few highlights from this month....

-Scotti can now roll from her back to her stomach & is definitely a tummy sleeper
-We started her on solids a couple weeks ago, she has been showing a lot of interest but is not really a fan of what we have given her so far.
-She is getting really good at sitting up, she can't quite sit up by herself yet but she is sooo close!
-She is in size 3 diapers and size 6-9 month clothes!!
-My guess is she weighs 17 pounds
-She LOVES, loves, loves her big sister! She just wants to stare at her and play with her all day long.  It is so much fun watching them interact with eachother more and more every day.
--whenever Scotti wakes up, Olive says- "She's awake, I'll get her" and runs to her crib! Olive calls her "Scotti Girl", loves to say- "Scotti, I'm talking to you", and "what are you doin?"
-She seriously is SO hard to get to laugh.  She has the biggest smile you'll ever see but unless you are REALLY funny you won't get anything. I love it.
-She isn't sleeping through the night yet, which is hard- but we have terrible sleepers so it's no surprise!

S'mores Over The Weekend

This weekend we put Scotti to bed and roasted some marshmallow's in the backyard. Olive was in heaven and had one too many marshmallows. Have you ever tried the "vanilla & caramel" mallows?? SO yummy! We stayed up way past our bedtimes making fun little memories!

The Fourth Of July

(the pictures were taken from my phone, so they aren't the best quality)

You know, I've never really thought of the 4th of July as one of my favorite holidays... but it actually is! I love it! I love this time of year- the fireworks, the bbq's, the family time. It's just fun. Especially this year! Olive was so into it all and it makes my heart burst!

We've gone to the Eaglewood Fireworks every year since we've been married and Olive was in heaven this year.  So was Scotti.  Once the fireworks started going off, Olive would say, "It's AMAZING, How they do that?! Ohhhh WOW!" She talks about "fireworks" all the time now and I love it when it comes out of her cute little mouth.  On the 4th we spent the day at home, and then went to Dave's sister Jana's house for a BBQ and a firework show!
