OLIVE'S FIRST BIRTHDAY

5.31.2014
HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY to our little Olive bug!! Her actual birthday was on thursday, may 29th! it's been a year since she was born, really?! yesterday was a happy & emotional day for me! i was in denial the whole day, that my little baby was ONE YEARS OLD!! When i tucked her in bed at the end of the day i felt an emotion of sadness. if i could, i would freeze time forever! these little ones grow up so quickly. in a blink of an eye she'll be graduated and moving out. please stay little forever!!

when olive first woke up on 5-29-2014, dave went in and got her. singing "Happy Birthday" while doing it! we did our little morning routine and then went to open presents in the living room! when we went birthday shopping for Olive we let her pick out what she wanted (besides the big slide) and then we wrapped them up for her to open.

once we finished presents, i made french toast for breakfast and added some sprinkles for the birthday girl. daddy had to head off to work and grandma moultrie came to pick up olive to go birthday shopping and to lunch! a little bit later, olive and i picked up dave and we headed to The Hogle Zoo for the afternoon.  Olive was so funny. she loved pointing at all the animals and wanted nothing to do with the stroller. and mommy.  she either walked holding dave's hand or had to be held by dave!

it was so much fun to see all of the animals.  we went last summer, and felt like there wasn't much to see because of all the construction going on. a lot of the animals came right up to the glass, which was so cool!!

after the zoo we headed to have a celebratory dinner at 5:10pm (the time little miss olive was born) afterwards we headed home and started our bed time routine.

i still can't believe olive is one!!! we love this little munchkin more than life and are SO glad she chose us to be her parents! life would not be the same without her!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY OLIVE!!

Twelve Month Update:

olive weighs 18 pound 17 ounces, in the 30th percentile. 28.5 inches long, in the 80th percentile.  her head is 18.2 inches, in the 80th percentile.

olive has been walking for a little over a month now!! WAHOO! we love the walking stage SO much more!! it's the absolute best!

olive is still not a great sleeper, but by now we are just used to it.  it's whatevs!

she loves strawberry shortcake and anything to do with mickey mouse.  she loves playing her her soccer ball... just any ball really.  she loves to just wonder and check out new things.  olive loves dogs and other people, especially little kids! she is definitely not shy one bit!!! she loves being outside.  olive loves bath time and playing with her bath toys.

olive has 4 teeth and is currently cutting 4 more! :(

she loves italian food.... pizza, ravioli, spaghetti.  she loves the veggie straws from costco.  her favorite sippy cups are the ones with straws.  she wants nothing to do with baby food anymore, and we have switched to the whole milk (which is not her favorite, but she will drink it if she's hungry enough)

i love watching olive learn and grow every single day!! she is our little princess!

ONE YEAR PHOTOS

5.30.2014
I found out about Fotofly through a friend just after Olive was born.  We have taken her there for ALL of her pictures and are always 100% satisfied.  They do a G R E A T job and every single photographer works so well with olive. I love Fotofly for many reasons...

they are reasonably priced
they are quick
and!
you get your photos that SAME day!

so of course i took olive to Fotofly for her One Year/Cake Smash pictures.  I love Fotofly anyways, but this was by far the best session there! the photographers were SO amazingly good with olive, and she absolutely LOVED them!! We got so many pictures back and i'm in love with every single one! i wasn't disappointed with any of them!

here's a few of my favorites, i don't know how i'm going to pick which ones i want to hang on our wall!

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

5.28.2014
it's a rare occasion when dave takes a day off of work, so i was really excited when he told me the shop was closed on Memorial Day.  Our Memorial Day weekend was definitely a busy one. we were going non-stop! our pool is finally open, so we spent sunday afternoon at the pool. the water was FREEZING so none of us really got in. Although, dave bribed me to jump in for 100 bucks. so of course i did it! duh! easy one hundred dollars! sunday night a few of us went up the B to go camping! we were very unprepared, and we didn't get up there until about 10:00pm . olive actually slept through the night! i was so worried about taking her camping, only because i didn't want to be up all night long! but she did fabulous!! we'll be taking plenty more camping trips this summer! monday we had our memorial day breakfast at my grandma's house and then our BBQ at my dad's! all in all, it was a great weekend. an exhausting... great weekend! we are so thankful for all of those who serve and have served our country as well as loved ones who have passed! hope everyone had a great weekend!

PURPLE WADING POOL

5.22.2014
we decided to get a little wading pool for gramma's backyard this summer. and today was the day to pull it out. olive was super excited and thought it was the coolest thing ever..... for a little bit. and then she wanted to get out. maybe it was the wind + chilly water. ;)

we, hands down, have the cutest child alive.

SUNSHINE

5.21.2014
With the weather being ahhh-mazing the last little while, Olive and I have been making sure to get out of the house to soak up all the lovely Vitamin D. She's loving it, I'm loving it. and by the end of the day we are both completely worn out. I just can't wait for the weather to get warmer and STAY warmer for a little while! here is all our adventures in a few pictures!

AQUARIUM PLAY DATE

5.20.2014
last week, olive and i had a play date with my friend ashlyn and her little boy beckham! we had decided that the babies would probably enjoy the aquarium now that they are a little bit older!! olive had a lot more fun when she wasn't in her stroller. our favorites were the penguins, sharks and the big fish tanks!!

(aren't they the cutest little babies you've ever seen?!)

(don't mind my child's "blank stare" look in our selfie)

(the penguins & the big tanks of fishies were probably the babes favorite thing)

(olive thought it was so cool that i let her out of the stroller and explore on her own)

(my favorite part of the whole aquarium was definitely the shark tank.  for some reason my phone was acting up so i couldn't ever get a good picture of the sharks)

HAPPY LATE MOTHER'S DAY

5.13.2014

life gets way too crazy busy with an 11 month old who can W A L K now! i never have time to just sit down and blog. it's horrible.  i wanted to post this quote on Mother's Day, but between spending time with my two little lovers and visiting family i just didn't get to it.

when my dad stopped by to wish me a happy mother's day, he told me he read this quote above. and i absolutely loved it. because it is so true.

the day olive was born, a mother was born too. i became a mom! olive is the biggest blessing in our lives, and i feel like for me especially.  i have learned so much from her this past year.  i am so glad she chose dave and i to be her parents.  we love her beyond words and can't imagine life without her! i L O V E being a mom!

we also not only have two amazing mother's of our own, but S O many motherly figures that we look up to. me especially! i'm so thankful that i have all of you in my life to learn from.

so happy LATE mother's day to all you mothers!

IT'S MY BIRTHDAY AND I'LL CRY IF I WANT TO!

5.08.2014

H A P P Y B I R T H D A Y to my one & only!! man, am i glad he was born 29 years ago! Dave is a little bit of a party pooper when it comes to his birthday and holidays. and when i say a little, i mean a lot!! (so this title suits him well!!) this year he was particularly stubborn! boo! so it was pretty difficult to plan an enjoyable day for him. i wasn't allowed to buy him any gifts, although i still did. he said the only thing that he wanted was a snickers and a red bull. so a snickers and a red bull he got! i also bought him a few shirts and took him shoe shopping at his favorite soccer store here in bountiful. two things he had mentioned he wanted the past few weeks! i made him a pretty big breakfast . . . belgian waffles, eggs and turkey bacon . . .  mmmmmm! and off to work he went. i took a quick trip to the gym and got in a short three mile run and then olive and i came back home to get ready for the night! we rarely go out just the two of us, so i thought it would be fun to go to dinner to spend time together, ya know as a couple! :) we took olive up to dave's parents and then went shopping!! which dave got a pretty cool pair of new shoes! afterwards, we headed to Robininto's in bountiful. it's been our place of choice lately. it's delightful!! before we picked up olive we did a little browsing at walmart and ended up at cold stone for some birthday ice cream!! over all i'm thinking dave had a great day, despite the party pooper mood.

i've always been the type to set really H I G H goals, and never accomplish them! that's just how it works out for me. i've been wanting to do the "whole 30" that a lot of people have been doing recently, but my main concern is that 30 days is a l o n g time! i didn't want to set myself up for failure and then be really hard on myself for not accomplishing anything.

i'll admit..... i grew up eating A L O T of treats. so therefore, they are my biggest weakness. seriously! i L O V E junk food. sometimes it can get pretty bad, i try not to keep too many unhealthy treats in my home but let's face it. it can be difficult.

i've been thinking about how and what kind of goals that i can set similar to the whole 30 that i can actually manage. so i've decided to do a #whole14 to start off with. if it goes well, i'll continue to do another 14 days of whole/clean eating.

so to start out, i found t h i s weekly meal plan printable to help me organize and plan out every meal, to ensure that i accomplish my goals. i've pinned a bunch of whole food recipes on my #whole14 board on pinterest.

i will (try) to post as often as possible recipes i've tried, along with before and after photos here on my blog. however my instagram may be seeing more of me than my blog! so if you aren't already, follow along via insta. @saraheggettblog

my journey starts tomorrow!! i would love your support and would love the company! anyone else care to join my #whole14?? post your pics on insta and hashtag #sarahswhole14 . i would love to see your pictures and progress!!

xoxo
